"Thank You, Doggy” (Milo’s Kitchen loves you!)

Although National Dog Day was started in 2004 as a small gesture by a passionate animal advocate, 11 years later this unique holiday has trended worldwide and generated over 5 million hashtags across social media (with brands like Loews Hotels and Autotrader participating).

Today, Milo's Kitchen dog treats — a top brand in the portfolio of San Francisco's Big Heart Pet Brands (which also owns Milk-Bone and Meow Mix) — is fetching even more consumer goodwill. In a new campaign launching this week, the brand is celebrating the day through a touching viral video that is a loving thank you note to our “furry soulmates” — with surprising survey data also released about how much dogs positively impact our lives.

Led by San Francisco's PR Hacker [www.prhacker.com] — Big Heart Pet Brands' PR agency of record — the campaign features interesting survey data including:

>> MILO'S KITCHEN 'DOG HAPPY' SURVEY:

* 86% of dog parents say their dog “comforts me immeasurably”
* 71% say their dog “reminds me to seek out more joy in life”
* 64% say their dog “makes me look forward to going home more than anything else”
* 63% say their dog “makes me much more patient and responsible”

Milo's Kitchen also ranked the top 10 most “dog happy” U.S. states (the states that appreciate and spend time with their dog the most) based on its survey of 3,000 U.S. dog parents:
